Our Founder

The Beginning

Hi, I’m Nick France. I’ve been a professional in the fine art and graphic design fields since 1978. My first job in the commercial art field was as a paste-up artist (when you actually needed a knife and rubber cement to cut and paste). I then began designing advertising layouts, managing print production, and creating illustrations.

The Transition

In 1996, I transitioned to digital and began designing and producing web graphics and web pages. I consider myself, above all, a front-end engineer and a web designer, with an emphasis on branding and content marketing.

My role as a designer

I retired from TECO, a utility in Tampa, Florida, after almost 19 years as the Supervisor of the Multimedia Design Group in Corporate Communications. I considered myself among the luckiest of designers in the Tampa Bay area at the time, because I had one of the premier positions in town, and I knew it. I’m very blessed to have worked there and enjoyed every day. I freelanced for the majority of my stint at TECO. Freelancing allowed me to build my brand, grow as a designer, and strengthen my business acumen, making me a more valuable employee at TECO.

The NFD Brand

After retiring from TECO and having built my brand as a freelancer since 2004, it was a foregone conclusion to continue full-time as Nick France Design (NFD), a boutique design firm. We take on select projects for both non-profit organizations and small to mid-sized businesses.

My skills as a professional

I’m self-organized and manage deadlines and production schedules across numerous concurrent projects. My additional abilities include staying current with trends in design, advertising, popular culture, social media, and technology. I strive for improvement and positivity, embodying a commitment to an open, innovative, and entrepreneurial culture.

I understand marketing objectives, as well as cost and production constraints. My job, as I see it, is to create compelling visual communications aligned with marketing objectives, ensuring the creative intent is not diluted or altered.
